O Christmas Tree!
O Christmas Tree is a traditional German Carol, O Tannenbaum. It is one of the few Christmas Carols that make no mention of the Nativity and instead celebrate one of the arguably less than religious trappings of the Christmas period.
The origins of O Christmas Tree are unknown, but the German tradition of cutting a tree and decorating it inside your house to celebrate Christmas and decorating it with candy, baubles and bells was started in the nineteenth century or earlier. The earliest known reference to a decorated Christmas Tree is from Latvia in 1510.
